Three small rooms and a corridor knocked into one. With three internal doors and two sets of French doors; what on first sight look like a large area in reality had limited useable wall space.
Because this is a large family house we needed to optimise on the storage facilities and create a work area. The large central island with integral double sink provides plenty of preparation space, storage and a place to sit, eat and chat.
The 'Fridge' wall (previously a corridor) contains the electrical equipment. Here we have placed the hob and oven, these provide the summer cooking facilities when it becomes too hot to keep the Aga on. You will notice that there is also a preparation area in this space together with the very useful larder and other storage cupboards.
This was a highly satisfying project to work on, the design is aesthetically pleasing, family friendly, and most importantly a space that functions well.
